President's Message

I am delighted to have had the honour of being elected as your local institute’s President for 2024/25. This is the third time that I have had this privilege, the last time being over 25 years ago, but the experience already feels familiar yet also very new and exciting.

I would like to extend my thanks to my predecessor Phil Hayes for his excellent stewardship over the last 12 months ably supported by a very hardworking and supportive Council. In particular I would like to congratulate Kim Attewell on becoming Deputy President and we are both looking forward to working together in the best interests of all our members over the next year.

I have some exciting plans for my year including:

  • Providing an excellent CPD programme aimed at helping all our members enhance their skills and knowledge, including at least one face to face event,
  • Our annual dinner which will be held on Friday 7th February 2025 at the prestigious Haycock Manor Hotel with special guests Flavia Cacace-Mistry and Jimi Mistry,
  • The recommencement of our social programme including the return of our annual quiz.

Every year the President chooses a charity that will benefit from our fundraising activity. Having lost my father to dementia just over three years ago my chosen charity is the Alzheimer’s Society who provide amazing support for people living with dementia as well as funding research into its cause, cure and prevention. I hope that I can count on your support in raising money for this amazing charity.

I’m looking forward to representing you, our members, over the next 12 months and to meeting as many as possible of you.
