City Council Team Re-gain Institute General Knowledge Quiz Shield

The Institute’s Annual General Knowledge Quiz Night was held at its traditional University of Leicester venue on Thursday 24 November.

Regarded by many as the “Best quiz in Leicester", it is now in its 20th year and it remains a popular and well-supported event at an excellent venue.

19 teams from both General Insurance (12) and Financial Planning (7) offices took part in a wide-ranging 9-round Quiz spanning Geography, History, Sport, Food & Drink, Science & Technology, Entertainment, News and Current Affairs; plus a Picture Board and a “Pointless Round”.

Whilst we will always maintain that the most important aspect of the evening is the ‘taking part’ with some enjoyable social interaction, there are, inevitably, some ‘serious quizzers’, and, sure enough, the battle for the right to be claimed Quiz Champions was close and exciting.

In the end, “Harlem Quiztrotters” from Boolers finished in 3rd place and “Turn Ups Swan Song” from Turner Insurance Group came 2nd. The winners were “Badger Islanders” from Leicester City Council, who were previous winners in 2012. Congratulations to them!
