Embracing Risk - Living Life Without Limits
This in person event will be delivered by the hugely inspirational Mike Bates, a former Royal Marine Commando, Covert Operations Leader and now a successful entrepreneur and celebrated international keynote speaker. Mike will explain how risk, motivation and our individual attitude towards these are fundamental to being able to succeed in all aspects of life – both in business and in our personal lives.
Mike will share his own experiences of participating in and running covert security operations, starting and running his own businesses, coaching other professionals, and the lessons he can share from his unique charity fund raising activity – rowing solo across The Atlantic Ocean (3000 miles) in 2022 to raise much needed funds for the Leeds Hospital that saved his son’s life.

Mike Bates is a human intelligence specialist and a former covert counter-terrorism operations leader, who recently became the fastest Britain to complete the “Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge” solo.
As the first officer in the history of the MOD to pass all relevant requirements to serve at the front line of the UK’s counter terrorism response, Mike’s life undercover gave him a powerful and credible perspective on the human psyche.
