The Insurance Bill was unanimously passed through parliament just a few days ago (on Wednesday 3 February). But what will it mean for you?
Peter Schwartz and Will Reddie will summarise the history of the bill as well as its practical implications for the industry in this one hour lecture.

Who should attend? Anyone in, or connected to, the insurance market who wants to understand how they will be affected by the changes that the Insurance Bill will make to the current law.

Learning objectives
By the end of this lecture you will:
- be able to assess the background to the Insurance Bill and its key drivers
- be able to summarise how the disclosure process in non-consumer insurance contracts will be changed from the current law in The Marine Insurance Act 1906
- have an overview of the main clauses of the Bill and their practical implications
- recognise the likely progress of the Bill through the legislative process
- have some practical ideas upon how to prepare for the new commercial insurance contracts regime

Speaker profiles
Peter Schwartz
Peter is a Consultant with Holman Fenwick Willan LLP. He has worked for over 30 years either in-house or in partnership at major international law firms as a commercial insurance and reinsurance lawyer. His experience encompasses property, liability and specialty insurance and non-marine reinsurance, dispute resolution, new products, cyber liability, investigations and discontinued operations.
Peter has, for many years, been identified as an expert in the field of Insurance and Reinsurance Law in the UK Legal 500, Chambers Legal UK and Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers.
He is a member of the IBA, BILA and the CII, and is a visiting lecturer at Leeds University. Peter is also a CEDR Accredited Mediator. He speaks regularly at conferences and seminars on risk related issues, in London and around the world.
Will Reddie
Will advises on a range of corporate and regulatory matters, focussing on clients in the insurance sector.
His experience includes M&A, joint ventures, (re)insurance arrangements, commutations and transactions specific to the Lloyd's market. Will has provided regulatory advice on Part IV authorisation issues, distribution arrangements, passporting structures, intra-group arrangements and the use of appointed representatives. He has also recently advised several entities on the acquisition or disposal of run-off business by way of Part VII transfer.
Will has also spent time on secondment to the Prudential Regulation Authority, to a Lloyd's managing agency and to HFW's Dubai office.
