Private Evening Visit to the College of Arms - an exclusive experience for IIL members - new date added!

College of Arms
Wednesday, 04 December 2024
6:00 pm – 8:45 pm (UK time)
  • Social/Networking Event

Due to overwhelming demand, we are now running a second date for our exclusive members’ evening experience at the College of Arms – the official heraldic authority for the United Kingdom, responsible for the granting of coats of arms, flags and ceremonial symbols.

The College of Arms is a unique City institution, housed in a 17th-century building on Queen Victoria Street, with archives going back to the 14th century. You may recognise it being featured in the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

Our visit will be led by the Rouge Croix Pursuivant, Thomas Johnston, who will speak about the history of heraldry, the ceremonial role of the heralds, and the architecture of the building while enjoying a glass of wine (or soft drink). There will be an opportunity to explore the historic records, before enjoying some further wine and refreshments with other London Institute members.

The visit will conclude at around 8:45pm

Why you should attend:

  • Explore a unique national institution, located in the heart of the City and not normally open to members of the public

  • Discover the history of heraldry, coats of arms and the role of heralds in important ceremonial state occasions

  • Network with other members over drinks and a buffet supper

Please note: this is a social/networking event and not part of the CPD programme.
