Virtual networking with the YMC

Online event
Thursday, 25 March 2021
5:30 pm – 6:30 pm (UK time)

Join the Young Members' Committee for its first online speed networking event!

Remember when we could meet up with friends for a drink after work or bump into a colleague on Leadenhall Street and pop into a café for a sandwich and quick chat? This event aims to simulate that experience, from the comfort of your own home (drinks and sandwiches optional!)

How does it work?

It’s a bit like a one-on-one Zoom call and is a fun way of catching up with Market colleagues you may not have spoken to for a while or not yet met. The system will randomly introduce you to someone for five minutes and then – when you’re ready – you’ll be introduced to someone else for five minutes.

This one-hour session will give you the opportunity to network with your peers – old and new - in the Market, meet our Committee members and learn more about the work of the YMC, including its plans for 2021.

Due to the interactivity of the event, places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This event will be hosted on Hopin. Please familiarise yourself with their T&Cs and Privacy Statement.

Many thanks to Hiscox for setting up the event.

Barking Foodbank was set up by the Hope Family Trust and The Trussell Trust in February 2012 to help tackle hunger in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

  • Between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020, foodbanks in the Trussell Trust network distributed 1.9 million emergency food supplies to people in crisis, an 18% increase on the previous year
  • More than 700,000 of those supplies went to children
  • During the first two months of lockdown, Barking Foodbank provided more than 8,300 meals to people in need
