Introduction to leadership skills
In this presentation, the third in the YMC Skills Series, Karen Fox and Sarah Byrom ACII from RSA explore the role of leaders and consider the skills and behaviours required in leadership positions.
Leadership can be extremely rewarding, and both speakers draw on their own experiences to demonstrate this and discuss the challenges that come with being a leader.
Karen and Sarah explain the practical daily activities of a leader, from managing teams and setting objectives to coaching, and mentoring.
This session provides practical tips for existing leaders on how they can improve their skills and advice for aspiring leaders on how to gain experience and prepare themselves for their first formal leadership role.

- Understand what leadership entails and the various roles and activities that leaders perform day to day
- Practical examples of situations you might come across as a leader with a view to inform on how you might deal with them
- Tips and advice on how you might gain leadership experience and improve your skills
