Cyber criminals and claims – the changing Covid landscape
In this Young Members’ Committee webinar, three key members of the CFC Cyber team explored the background to the hardening Cyber market, highlighting the increase and shift in Cyber claims and ransomware variants and demonstrating business email compromise.
Both the level and severity of Cyber claims are increasing, and this has only become more acute in the pandemic, with more people working from home. CFC’s most commonly-seen incidents are Business Email Compromise (BEC - an exploit in which an attacker obtains access to a business email account) and ransomware (a type of malware program that infects, locks or takes control of a system and demands a ransom to undo it).
This session explored these trends, discussed the wide variety of ransomware encountered and concluded with a live demonstration of Business Email Compromise, before the audience had the opportunity to ask questions.
By the end of this webinar members will have gained an insight into:
- The current trends in Cyber claims
- The varieties of ransomware
- How Business Email Compromise is achieved
