1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Lewis Prosser, MSc (Finance), FPFS, Chartered Financial Planner, Head of Professional Development, St. James’s Place
  • Financial Planning

In this IIL financial planning webinar, Lewis Prosser gives a perspective on the relationship between the advice gap and the skills gap.

A lot has been said and written about the advice gap in the UK financial services profession. In this session, the speaker explores current data to showcase trends and challenges in the supply of competent professionals. Unsurprisingly, attainment of knowledge and skills emerges as a key factor.

Lewis also explores the bottlenecks in attaining the required growth and makes recommendations to address this need. The study that generated this knowledge is an example of the tailored lifelong learning opportunities in finance available at the University of Gloucestershire. An overview of these opportunities will be presented during the session.

Learning objectives:

  • Examine the case for integrating 'soft skills' in the qualification criteria for financial advisers
  • Appreciate the relevance of understanding the learning and thinking styles
  • Assess lifelong learning opportunities as avenues for extending and expanding your impact, that of your team and the profession

Chair: Dr Charles Afriyie, Director of Finance in Society Research Institute, University of Gloucestershire
