Drilling Engineer’s reflections on Control of Well claims
In this IIL marine and energy webinar, Dr Yuejin Luo and Mike McMahon explained how recognised experts utilise their technical skills to manage numerous highly complex control of well claims at Charles Taylor Adjusting, what challenges they face, and the management skills needed to respond to them.
Successful management of control of well claims requires not only a good understanding of in the insurances involved, but also an in-depth understanding of the science, technologies and practices involved in drilling and controlling hydrocarbon wells.
In this webinar, the speakers explained the basics of both drilling and controlling a well which has become out of control. They also discussed the differing views on what it means for a well to be ‘Out of Control’. Case studies were used to highlight some of the typical issues that arise when adjusting control of well losses.
By the end of this webinar members would have gained an insight into:
- Basics of drilling and controlling a hydrocarbon well
- Types of things that can go wrong when drilling a well
- How Policy Holders and Insurers may have very differing views on what may appear to be simple concepts
