In this IIL claims webinar, David Summers talked about the nature of insured art, why it is insured, who insures it, and in particular why it is of such interest to organised crime, illustrated by some real life examples. The webinar also looked at how art claims are handled, including the range of art experts who get involved and the loss adjuster's role in in that process.
This seminar gave an overview of the international art market, looking at the buyers and sellers, and how trades are made. The speaker also looked at the reasons why the art market may be an attractive one for organised crime, giving some specific examples in recent history of art theft and how its connection to organised crime. The seminar included responses to art crime by law enforcement agencies, the art market itself, and by the insurance market.
