Join the YMC for an in-person panel discussion exploring how to navigate conversations around your career development.

Amanda Scott, Matthew Waters and Buki Mosaku will reflect on their own career journeys and discuss approaches to having effective career development conversations with line managers.

We will discuss the importance of being able to articulate clearly what you want to achieve and the value proposition you bring, to be able to have effective conversations about career development.

The panel will demystify the promotion process from a manager’s perspective, outlining the selection process, timelines, and hurdles that are often present.

We will also discuss how to identify when bias may or may not be impacting the conversation and provide advice on ways to overcome this in a constructive and collaborative way.

Learning objectives:

  • Understanding the importance of communication and creating a network of supporters at the right time
  • Demystifying the promotion process
  • Identifying when bias is/isn’t impacting your conversation, and how to overcome this constructively in a collaborative way

Chair: Kimberley Hallam ACII, Marine Liability Underwriter, QBE and Chair of IIL YMC

Networking drinks and nibbles will follow the discussion.
