Now you are Chartered - what next?

The Old Library, Lloyd's
Wednesday, 30 January 2019
1:10 pm – 1:55 pm (UK time)
    • Melissa Collett, Professional Standards Director, Chartered Insurance Institute
  • Financial Planning

In this IIL financial services lecture Melissa Collett reminded members of what it means for an individual and a firm to be Chartered and discussed the headlines arising from the CII's recent review of Chartered status. She also reminded titleholders how they can use their status to good effect within their local institute and community.

There are more than 23,000 individuals and 900 firms with CII Chartered status. In the summer of 2018 the CII launched a review of its 'badge of trust' at this crucial time for insurance and the personal finance profession.

As Professional Standards Director at the CII, Melissa is in charge of all aspects of Chartered titles and in this lecture she discussed what it means to be Chartered today, and gave an insight into how the scheme will be updated and modernised later this year.

She also covered the opportunities that Chartered brings for developing as a professional, and as a firm, and suggest possible routes to consider on your professional journey in partnership with the CII and your local institute.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • What it means to be Chartered
  • The future of Chartered
  • Opportunities for Chartered professionals to develop and give back to the profession and the public
  • Becoming a Fellow
