Cyber - looking beyond the hype

The Old Library, Lloyd's
Wednesday, 07 March 2018
1:15 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Graeme Newman, Chief Innovation Officer, CFC Underwriting
  • Claims

In this IIL claims lecture Graeme Newman analysed the latest trends in cyber insurance and how underwriting processes and policy forms are standing up to the growing volume and diverse nature of claims in this new line of commercial insurance.

With cyber insurance being the current hot topic within the insurance market, Graeme examined the latest trends in both coverage and claims. Looking to move beyond the hype, Graeme's lecture critically assessed the state of development of this emerging market and how current policy language is coping with the changing cyber claims environment. Key topics for discussion included: the shift from data breach to business interruption, the complexity of applying traditional policy language to a new world risk, the skills gap within the current market and future trends and developments.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • The changing nature of cyber risk and how policy language and claims processes must evolve in order to cope
  • The real nature of cyber claims including the shift from data breaches to business interruption
  • Future potential developments in the cyber insurance market
