The presentation set out the purpose of an Energy from Waste facility and give an overview of the EFW sector in the UK, including how the process works.

It explained that the facility should be viewed as a power station and will provide an overview of the business model and revenue streams – contracted/uncontracted waste and electricity generation.

Also discussed was the plant development cycle, planning and site selection (avoiding flood exposed locations), highlighting property risk factors – good power station design, technology selection, commissioning, maintenance planning, operator training, relationships with original equipment manufacturers and fire protection design considering waste streams.

By the end of this webinar members would have gained an insight into:

  • Energy from waste plants as power stations
  • The difficulties in delivering new plants vs the need for infrastructure
