Charity undergoes exciting evolution to enhance its support for the insurance industry

The Insurance Charity (The Charity), the UK and Ireland’s only dedicated insurance industry charity, is pleased to unveil a new visual identity and website to help increase awareness and provide enhanced support to people working in the insurance industry.

The Charity has undergone an exciting evolution, changing its name to The Insurance Charity (previously The Insurance Charities), along with the launch of a new website. Another significant change sees the Charity remove its length of service requirement for those seeking support, in order to provide assistance to an even greater number of insurance people when they need it most.

The Insurance Charity, founded in 1902, supports current and former insurance professionals and their dependants who are facing financial hardship. In 2023/2024, the Charity awarded £1.4 (€1.7) million of support across the year, up from £1.3 (€1.6) million the previous year.

Annali-Joy Thornicroft, CEO, The Insurance Charity, said: “We have a very proud history of helping so many insurance professionals in need of financial and practical support, and today feels like a new dawn. Our Charity is evolving, and it’s important we do so in a way that aligns with the industry and the people within it, which is why we conducted extensive research, consulting with many people across our industry, to gather their views on our Charity. We’re excited to take this step forward to help even more people in our brilliant and thriving industry.”

Josh Brekenfeld, Chairman, The Insurance Charity, added: “Everyone at the Charity wants to be sure that we have a brand and name which drives people to our door. It’s vital that our messaging demonstrates that we are here for all insurance people and their dependents. It doesn’t matter if you’ve since left our industry, we care deeply about everybody who works – and has worked – in this brilliant sector. Everyone is welcome to come to us.”
